Television commercials are a staple of the advertising industry, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Some are light and airy, while others are dark and serious. But no matter what their tone, all commercials have one goal: to sell a product.
The Barbies “You can be anything” commercial is a perfect example of this. The commercial is all about empowering young girls to pursue their dreams, and the sound mix and voice over play a big role in conveying that message. Big Ears Audio was tasked with creating an original music composition and voice over that would capture the spirit of the commercial. And they succeeded brilliantly. The end result is a powerful and inspiring commercial that is sure to resonate with its intended audience.
The first Barbie doll was created by American businesswoman Ruth Handler using a German figure named Bild Lilli as inspiration. Since then, there have been many different versions of this famous toy with varying levels of popularity and success in America but still an international phenomenon worldwide!
Barbie is the figurehead of a brand of Mattel dolls and accessories, including other family members and collectible dolls. Barbie has been an important part of the toy fashion doll market for over six decades, and has been the subject of numerous controversies and lawsuits, often involving parodies of the doll and her lifestyle. Mattel has sold over a billion Barbie dolls, making it the company’s largest and most profitable line.[1]
The brand has expanded into a media franchise since the late 1980s, including a long-running media/multimedia franchise of computer-animated filmsthat began in 2001. From the following year until 2017, the films were broadcast regularly on the Nickelodeon cable channel in the United States.[2]
Barbie and her best male friend Ken have been described as two most popular dolls in the world.[3] Since its launch, Barbie has transformed the toy business in affluent communities globally by becoming a vehicle for the sale of related merchandise (accessories, clothes, friends and relatives of Barbie, etc.).
